This website was offline for a few days last week due to a server change, but all should be fixed now. Once again, much has happened over the past week. I started working full-time at Daz, albeit remotely. There was a lot of meetings, HR forms, and orientating. Usually, these tasks are about as fun for me as moving, but it was made much more bearable due to some surprises.
I have gotten used to paying for my own equipment and software while working as a contractor, so I was pleasantly surprised to receive equipment from Daz. On day 1, UPS dropped off a very nice work laptop for software development: 16″ 2560×1600 display, 11th gen i7, 64GB RAM, 2TB SSD and RTX3050. The next day, I received a very nice wireless headset by SteelSeries.
FYI, Daz/Tafi is making a strong push to hire people in all fields. If you are in the job market, I recommend you send an application their way. My experience so far is that Daz has an inclusive, respectful remote-work culture. In my opinion, the employee benefits are on par or better than other a small to medium-sized businesses.
I’m still focusing on work-related projects to try to make a good first impression, but I’m hoping to resume my side-projects in another 1-2 weeks.
